We are Mark and Anna and we live here in East Preston, just round the corner from our two seaside holiday lets – Driftwood Corner  and Little Driftwood.

In 2019, our kids had flown the nest and Mark gave up his corporate job after nearly 25 years. We didn’t have a plan, beyond taking some time out and driving “Ronnie” – our camper van – 7,500 miles down to the Sahara desert in Morocco!

Whilst we were away the house behind us came on the market and the idea of creating Driftwood Stays self-catering holidays, began to take shape. Primarily, because we have always loved living in East Preston. It has so much to offer families and couples (the beach, the cafes & the South Downs to name a few), and we wanted to share that with other people as we knew they’d love it too.

We have a pretty comprehensive digital local guide we share with guests, once they are booked in with us and are always available to provide advice and tips. We have also renovated quite a few properties in our time and really enjoy creating authentic and relaxing spaces, using as much of the original features as we can.

So, the “small” challenge we set ourselves in 2020 was to completely renovate Driftwood Corner and create a secret hideaway for couples (Little Driftwood) next door.  It was all consuming, working 24/7 on the houses … hard work, but very rewarding. You’ll see a lot of repurposed and re-used materials in both properties. We tried very hard not to create waste (and still do). 

Outside of work, we love all kinds of watersports and can often be seen around the local area in our wetsuits! We raised our family here over the past 17 years and now the kids have flown the nest, we want to share this magical place with other families and couples, so that they too, can enjoy all this seaside village has to offer!
