Yes! Summer is on its way. The clocks have gone forwards, sunset on the beach last night was at 7.30pm and this is just the start of the evenings getting longer. So with summer now firmly on our minds, we thought we would give you a heads up on the wonderful events we have for families that are going on or around Driftwood Corner and Driftwood Haven holiday cottages.
Below is a list of popular events going on in and around Sussex – its by no means exhaustive – but hopefully will give you a flavour of some of the reasons people come and stay with us for and some inspiration of things to do when you stay with us for your family getaway. Some are more local to us than others, some are dog friendly and many are perfect for multi-generational family groups.

Goodwoof at Goodwood 20-21 May
This will be the second year for this event. It proved very popular last year so they are bringing it back. The perfect day out for the dog loving family. If you haven’t heard – we are now dog friendly in both our holiday homes and at the moment we have availability in both Driftwood Haven and Driftwood Corner for this weekend.
Brighton Fringe Festival 5 May-4 June
Any teenagers in the house? This is right up their street – so much going on and Brighton has such easy access from our holiday cottages. Trains run from Angmering – and it’s the best way to get to Brighton without the queueing summer traffic and expensive car parks!
East Preston Festival 2-11 June
This is a really delightful local village event with lots going on. It’s fabulous forfor families with pre-school children. Come and stay before the crowds do – check availability here.
Goodwood Festival of Speed 13-16 July
It’s the 30th anniversary of this well loved event and the Porsche 911 is the headline sponsor. This year the event is taking place slightly later in the year than usual (normally in June) We would normally have a 7 night minimum stay at this time in July however, to accommodate people wanting to stay just for the weekend we have just reduced this 3 nights so be quick if you want to stay then as we usually sell out quick! Horse racing and evening music – what’s not to love? This is a very popular event with the locals so come and join in the fun.
A fantastic and very colourful event. This is great for all ages but another sure fire winner for the older children in your family group to satisfy their holiday needs.
There is lots going on in the historic town of Arundel during this one, but a personal favourite is the Arundel gallery trail. It’s a really fun way to spend an afternoon exploring the town whilst getting a good snoop around other people’s houses and gardens!
It’s the 25th anniversary of this iconic event. Every guest who has stayed with us and been to this event has had the most amazing time. It’s a really special event that should be on your bucket list – is suitable for the whole family and the dressing up is a major part of it!
