Want to enjoy East Preston like a local? These are our top 4 favourite cafes to hang out in. They all have 2 very important things in common:-
- they are all dog friendly
- they are all within walking distance of our holiday cottages Driftwood Haven and Driftwood Corner.
We have chosen these four because in our view, each one offers something special but particular to them. So dive right in and discover how best to spend your time with Driftwood Stays and to make plans to get the best out of your visit!
This is an absolute gem right on the beach just along to the west of our beach houses. It’s only open April to October – look for the red “Open” flag and keep an eye on their social media in case of bad weather as it’s open to the elements. It has a bird’s eye view of the beach and the rustic charm is what makes it special. It also has the friendliest owner in the land who’s become a bit of a local legend!
The absolute best for ice creams, cheese scones to die for and home made fruity flapjacks!
Lottie has a very well established team who are extremely welcoming and very good at what they do!
Best for lazy breakfasts and inspirational lunches. They have a brown reel of specials that changes regularly. The whole team get involved in coming up with new dishes that are imaginative and really tasty and if you don’t get in to try them you kind of feel like you have missed out!
Get yourselves ringside seats for the best “Live Watersports TV” in the area. Join in with the action or just sit and watch the show!
Best for oven fired pizzas and sundowner cocktails on the rooftop terrace. Also it’s open 7 days a week so you always know you are going to get served!
Loads of events going on – keep an eye on their social media if you’re coming to stay – this place has a vibe!
It is a longer walk than the other cafes – about a 4 mile round trip along the beach or greensward. Alternatively you could hop in the car, particularly if you are planning on spending some time there and joining in with the watersports on offer.
About a mile along the beach brings you to the Bluebird beachside cafe. 8/10 dogs say they prefer a Bluebird Cafe doggie sausage!
Best for fish ‘n chips on a summer evening . A Driftwood Stays holiday would not be complete without a walk to the Bluebird for a morning coffee or an evening fish n chips.
This long standing venue is a favourite with the local dog walkers and is a mile there and a mile back along the greensward (or beach at low tide) to the east.
