Goodwood Revival is coming around again very soon! This hugely popular event has been running for over 20 years now. Every year our self-catering holiday cottages get booked up for this September weekend, usually between Christmas and New Year when the Goodwood Members Club release the dates. We have had all kinds of people stay with us, from those working at the event to classic car enthusiasts, bringing their pride and joy over from Europe (Belgium this year!)
For the uninitiated – what is Goodwood Revival? It’s a celebration of all things vintage in the world of motorsports. An event that transports you back to the glamorous era of the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. It happens every year, usually just after the schools go back in early to mid September, at the iconic Goodwood Circuit in West Sussex.
The event is a living tribute to the golden age of motorsports, when gentlemen racers and elegant ladies adorned the trackside, and classic cars ruled the road. However the Revival is more than just a race; it’s a theatrical reimagining of the past, where everyone dresses up in the era’s fashion. From the moment you step onto the grounds, it’s as if the clock has turned back, offering an authentic glimpse into the past. The detail that goes into recreating the atmosphere of the past is amazing. From the period-specific clothing worn by attendees to the authentic vintage structures that adorn the circuit, no stone is left unturned in the pursuit of authenticity.
While the Goodwood Revival is a haven for vintage car enthusiasts, it’s also a family-friendly event that caters to a wide range of interests. From vintage fashion shows to children’s activities and even a fairground, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. It’s a chance for younger generations to learn about and appreciate the heritage of motorsports and classic cars.
Everyone that has come and stayed with us for this wonderful event has come back raving about it. If you want to come and stay with us for this event weekend, you had best get in quick as we are usually booked by the end of the previous year and accommodation in the area can be hard to come by. If you are coming in your precious vintage car, the houses are set on a private beach estate with private roads and there are also gates to the private driveway so you can close those too for extra peace of mind.
